Born Naughty by Kim Martin

Born Naughty is the truly remarkable story of Kim Martin and her experiences as a wife, mother, masseuse and escort – all of which she achieved in spite of severe disability.
Heart wrenching suffering as a child due to hospital blunders give a vivid insight into the mind of a disabled child, and although these early pages are filled with memories of trauma, there is no sense of self-pity anywhere among the recollections, instead a remarkable fortitude with no sense of complaint against the hand life had dealt her.
Through her special passion for singing, Kim secured a place performing at a holiday camp, and found that the carefree environment facilitated her second great interest: sex. Her early sexual experiences are related openly and frankly with a great deal of relish. Her disability proved no barrier to sexual experience.
The 1980s brought a major change in the author’s life with marriage and children being interspersed with periods of hospital treatment. Among the changes in this turbulent period were a divorce, remarriage, acting and finally becoming a masseuse. This proved to be her métier, and she soon found herself in the “personal services” business, providing sexual relief to her clients along with massages. Her cheerful, positive outlook on life pervades and this outlook is maintained throughout the rest of the story as the author describes her gradual evolution into a fully professional escort; in equal measure frank and fascinating, sometimes touching, often humorous.
This is an extraordinary autobiography giving fascinating insights into the experiences of both disability and prostitution, together with courage, personal strength and irrepressible good humour.

I was fortunate enough to meet Kim at one of her book signings and I\'m so glad i did.
As a writer myself I found her writing honest, brave and sincere.
She is a rare person and has lived through pain and fear during her childhood, when most other young people of her generation were getting on with their normal and exciting lives.
Spina bifida is a terrible disease and Kim continues to dealt with it in her stoic way.
Anybody who feels sorry with their lot in life should read Kim\'s frank account of her experiences.
There are no free meal tickets and Kim has had to make money to live like you and i. Her book shows how disabled people are treated in an able world and I thank Kim for telling me and others her wonderfully writen story.
Finally I must say that the review writer \"James\" must have been reading the wrong book. I support all the other review writers in my admiration for Kim\'s story and hope it attains the recognition id deserves.

After reading Kim’s book I have to say well done to her for sharing her life experiences with the world. I had to read it more than once because the first time it upset me, especially the early years and what she had to suffer. I had to comment after reading the previous comment about the writing. This is not a novel by an experienced writer; this is an honest account of her life. True life is true life. Having said that, I for one found this story very easy to read and written from the heart. If you are looking for something sad, funny and naughty then I would fully recommend this book.

3420 votes now and yet no sign of it on the best sellers lists and only 2 reviews, perhaps Kim is still being naughty and voting for herself. As to the book an interesting tale told by an interesting character. However no more or less than many others. The merit should therefore be on how the story is told and whether it engages and holds your attention and this for me was neither gripping or overly dull. If you like this sort of book I am sure you will enjoy it, if just looking for something to read then I would give it a body swerve there are better written books out there.

I have never written a review before, but have been compelled to on conclusion of reading `Born Naughty'
I first discovered the author as one of my `friends' on Facebook, and that is the most unfortunate part, as she is not what you might call a `real' friend, which is my loss, but I live in hope!
You may be forgiven to think the attraction would be the obvious stunning beauty of the author, but it is her book, which was delivered promptly by Amazon on the Wednesday, and finished by the Thursday. The book is everything and possibly more than I expected. I found it reached out on many levels, I identified that if there was ever someone entitled to wallow in self pity, it could be the author of this book, however, you will find no evidence of that what so ever in this book!
This book is very frank and honest, and somewhat enlightening, and has made me laugh, and cry, I was able to help me identify with certain parts, and most certainly able to conclude that when life is treating you so badly, and all is going wrong, is it really that bad, is your lot really so terrible?
Because this lady has had more than her fair share of life's troubles and medical blunders thrown her way, and to her credit, she has stuck two fingers up to the world and said, no, I am not giving up, and you will not beat me. I will do what I want, the way I like it, and didn't she do well?

Don't be put off by the word wheelchair. If, like me, you would mentally switch off when you read that word, please don't be fooled. This is a bright and cheerful book about a fighter who, after years of pain, is understandably overcompensating with a lust for pleasure. It is a really honest, witty account of a childhood destroyed by medical ignorance without at any point showing self-pity. Kim takes you through her early days at a cracking pace, moving through her romances and escapades as an adult in a wheelchair where most people would just quietly accept their fate. I found the response of other people to her incapacity fascinating, and she shows clearly that many men are not put off by her physical problems but judge her on her personality and sexuality, both of which are there in abundance. If you are prudish about sex you will find this book difficult because of its frank and detailed descriptions by a woman who works hard to please her customers, but always with a twinkle in her eye and a refreshingly open approach to what is, after all, just a natural human function. The question in my mind after reading this book was what on earth could she have achieved if she hadn't been disabled? The mind boggles! You will enjoy this book, but don't lend it to your Granny because Kim was clearly...well, born naughty.

At the time of writing I see that Kim Martin's remarkable book, Born Naughty has received no less than 2211 votes on Melrose books website. This is quite easy to understand as Born Naughty is unputdownable. Out of all those lazy voters,I find it shameless that only one reader, apart from myself, has bothered to comment on this marvelous book. Don't hesitate order Kim's book now. You won't regret it

A truly fantastic story of a remarkable lady. I am not a great reader but I cannot wait until I can put some time aside each day to read about Kim's life.
I am a 42 year old man and some points in the book had me close to tears. Kim is due to do a book signing soon and I am delighted to say I intend to be there just so I can shake her hand.
